Love you ALL to life,

Hello, my fellow Americans —
Love you ALL to life,

Bernadette Smith’s story begins on the west side of Detroit, in a modest home on Cheyenne Street, a place where faith, family, and hard work weren’t just taught, they were lived. As the eleventh of twelve children, she learned early that real leadership looks like service: sharing, showing up, and standing together through every season.
Her father, a proud veteran who served in the Korean War, loved his family deeply and carried within him the values of honor and country. His sacrifice and courage became part of Bernadette’s understanding of what it means to serve something greater than oneself.
Her mother was the very definition of quiet strength. With twelve children under one roof, she never raised her voice, not once. She led with peace, grace, and steadfast faith, teaching her children that true influence doesn’t come from power or position, but from prayer and love in action.
Detroit shaped Bernadette’s heart for people from every walk of life. She saw resilience in her neighbors, hope in the face of hardship, and the strength that comes from unity. Those early lessons forged her conviction that strong families build strong communities, and that the American dream must remain within reach for every child.

Bernadette’s childhood home on Cheyenne Street, Detroit — where faith and perseverance were formed.
This foundation, faith in Jesus Christ, love of family, respect for service, and a commitment to the common good, guides Bernadette's leadership today and fuels her calling to serve Michigan and the nation.
“Faith isn’t something you say — it’s something you live.”

Family is at the heart of everything Bernadette Smith does. Her faith and leadership begin in her own home, where love, laughter, and prayer are part of everyday life. Married for 34 years to Pastor Philip Smith, Bernadette is the proud mother of eight children. Together, they have built a strong foundation rooted in faith, unity, and service. Their marriage and family life are living examples of the principles Bernadette stands for, love, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to God and to one another. As a wife and mother, Bernadette understands the hopes and challenges families face. She knows what it means to work hard, make sacrifices, and believe in something greater than yourself. Her family’s love has been her greatest blessing and her strongest motivation to fight for a better future, one that protects the values that strengthen both families and communities. Bernadette’s heart for people extends far beyond her own home. Whether mentoring young leaders, serving in her church, or advocating for families across Michigan, she leads with compassion and conviction, believing that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive.
Bernadette Smith’s story is one of faith, perseverance, and purpose. From her humble beginnings in Detroit to her decades of leadership, she has stood firm in her belief that America’s best days are still ahead, if we have the courage to stand together. She’s not running to divide, she’s running to unite. To bring reason back to government, to protect our freedoms, and to restore the promise of this nation for every generation to come. Now is the time to rise above what divides us and focus on what unites us, our faith, our freedom, and our future.”
